PRESS REVIEWS

Macbeth on throne.png

"Amy Floyd has a formidable, almost frightening stage presence, inhabiting Macbeth with gravitas and political cunning that makes Machiavelli look like a pussy cat… The stage tension between Floyd and Adler was electric as they circled each other like a pair of prize fighters preparing to go the distance.  Verbally it was superb, words being spat with a vehement intensity that raised hairs on the back of the neck.  Physically, it was breathtaking, sword fighting that felt real, blood that looked it. Peerless."

Edinburgh Fringe - Tim Wilcox

Macbeth and Lady Macbeth 4 cropped.png

"Amy Floyd’s development of Macbeth’s character arc is incredible, we can see the stark contrast of his demeanor as the show progresses. There is a genuine connection and tenderness in the performance between Floyd and King-Farlow’s Lady Macbeth. It’s a gentleness that really humanizes the couple and makes us actively root for them to succeed. (Floyd shows) incredible acting prowess, lending a lot of heart and technical skill to moments and soliloquies that are difficult to execute well."

Pepper & Salt - Katerina Schwartz

Macbeth and witches 6 - St Mary's.png

"Amy Floyd as Macbeth does a masterful job of delineating the ill-fated Thane of Glamis’s arc from loyal vassal to murderous tyrant, and on into a side of Macbeth that is often missed: grieving husband in doubt of his own cause."

"Adler’s sword fighting scene with Amy Floyd’s Macbeth is one of the highlights of the whole show, with audience members visibly shrinking back and pulling up legs from the thrusting and whirling bodies as the contest progresses to its inevitable bloody climax. Absolutely riveting stuff!"

Emma King-Farlow - Shadow Road Productions

I have had the pleasure of working with Amy Floyd numerous times. I continue to cast her because she is an exceptional actor and a joy to work with. She brings intelligence, authenticity, and emotional depth to every role, responds brilliantly to direction, and is extremely collaborative throughout the whole rehearsal process. I also know I can trust her completely - she is always generous, instinctive, and utterly committed to telling the story truthfully, and getting the best out of each scene. She consistently raises the standard of every production she's involved in.

Andrew Slade - Slade Wolf Productions

I had the privilege to direct Amy [as George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life] and I would certainly work with her again. Amy brings passion, dedication and enthusiasm to her performance, is a great team player, keen to support her fellow performers, and understands the nuances of performance. She is a joy to direct, whether it’s bringing her own ideas to the table, or taking direction and trying new ideas.

Robert Blackwood - Interrupt the Routine

Amy arrived at short notice to deliver a character for a Murder Mystery we were producing.

Our set-up involves improvisation and bringing the character to life not only through cross-examination by teams of guests, but also by lifting moments of tension between the suspects to create a sense of theatre and entertainment within the space.

Amy was committed to doing this, and as a brand new cast member delivered an emotionally-charged, authentic performance that saw her open to exploring the character whilst engaging sincerely with 100 guests (no easy task).

She delivered at a level other actors take 3 or 4 mysteries to find.

The other side is her kindness, ensemble work and her ability to slot in with the company. She delivered as a team-player rather than an ego, whilst never giving the impression of shying away from taking her moments when they came about.

I would be delighted to not only recommend her, but hopeful she'll work with us again soon.

WHY ME?

WHAT I BRING TO A ROLE

I specialise in intelligent, emotionally complex characters who wield power, face difficult choices and undergo transformation. My background in movement, combat and performance capture allows me to bring physical storytelling into the character rather than treating action as something separate from the acting.

COMMANDING PRESENCE

I'm comfortable playing characters who take up space — leaders, antagonists, warriors, authority figures and people who aren't afraid to challenge the room. I can create intensity without needing to push.

VULNERABILITY & WARMTH

Intensity is only interesting when there's something underneath it. I'm equally interested in tenderness, humour, grief and vulnerability - particularly the moments where a seemingly formidable character lets the audience see the person underneath.

ADAPTABILITY

I've worked across theatre, screen and performance capture, from heightened classical text and multi-roling to naturalistic screen work and physically demanding genre productions. I'm comfortable adapting quickly to different directors, processes and performance styles.

COLLABORATIVE

I've worked not only as an actor but as a fight director, movement specialist and producer, giving me a broad understanding of how a production comes together. I understand the pressures on the other side of the room - and I bring that awareness into my work as an actor.
